The 2022 encore has not quite lived up to the magical 2021 season that Cincinnati had.

They are still competitive in the AAC at 7-2 and 4-1 in the conference, but a loss to UCF two weeks ago dropped them outside of the top 25. The Bearcats bounced back last week against Navy, 20-10.

Meanwhile, East Carolina was on their bye last week, but is a stealth competitor in the AAC at 6-3 and 3-2.

The Pirates have already knocked off UCF this season and on Friday night, we'll see if they can take out another top team in the AAC.

Let’s check out the odds.

East Carolina vs. Cincinnati Odds, Spread and Total

Cincinnati and ECU Betting Trends

  • Cincinnati is 2-6-1 ATS
  • East Carolina is 6-3 ATS
  • The Under is 5-3-1 in Cincinnati’s games
  • Under is 5-0 in Cincinnati’s last five games
  • ECU is 0-6 ATS in last six meetings in Cincinnati

East Carolina vs. Cincinnati Prediction and Pick

The odds are all over the place, at least on Monday. You can find the spread as low as 4.5 and as high as 6.5. The original lookahead line opened with the Bearcats as 10.5-point favorites so it has shot down sizably from that first number.

Cincinnati has a terrible record against the spread this season at 2-6-1; tied with Tulsa, Colorado, Stanford and Boston College for the second-fewest ATS victories in 2022. They were one of my favorite teams to fade early on this year, because last season was baked into many lines set this year. In reality, most of the main contributors from that playoff team are gone. 10.5 was way too many against a good ECU team, but at 4.5 that is a different story.

Cincinnati is a pass-first offense this season. Last week, Ben Bryant threw for 299 and two touchdowns on Navy, and will have an even better day against the Pirates this week. ECU allows 264.0 yards per game through the air, which ranks 107th in the country.

It's also worth nothing that East Carolina is 0-6 ATS in their last six trips to Western Ohio.

Make sure you shop around and find the best value, but I really love Cincinnati at 4.5 or 5, since anything higher is too rich for my blood.

Pick: Cincinnati -4.5 (-115)
