In-state and conference rivals clash on Tuesday night when the Eastern Michigan Eagles travel to take on the Western Michigan Broncos. These MAC adversaries are both struggling but match up well in what could be a surprisingly good game to watch.

The Eagles started the season with a promising 5-0 record but things have soured quickly and EMU needs to stop the bleeding now, sitting at 5-6 overall. Its most recent failure came at the hands of Valparaiso who beat them 67-55 before Christmas.

The extended layoff could help the Eagles put that disaster of a few weeks behind them in their first MAC game of the year.

Meanwhile, the Broncos season has not been going any better as they currently sit at 4-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Their last game out saw them get beat up 59-47 by the Ohio Bobcats. Their other MAC loss came the game prior when they lost to Toledo 83-56.

Here are the odds for this MAC showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Eastern Michigan vs. Western Michigan and Pick

While the Broncos have lost back-to-back games to MAC opponents, it’s almost more worrisome how those games ended. So far this year, the Broncos have been beaten by conference teams by an average of 19.5 points per game.

They are in the middle o a three-game losing streak and have dropped five of their last six. A lot of these losses can be chalked up to poor shooting. An obvious reason sure, but the Broncos barely shot above 30 percent from the floor in their last game.

To put that into context, the Broncos are 275th in the nation in field goal percentage at 46.8 percent and 291st in 3-point shooting. For those thinking they might be one of those defensive-minded teams, think again.

Their defense is arguable worse than their offense and rank 348th in scoring defense and is losing games by an average of 19.2 points per game. Not only are the Broncos losing games, but their ATS record is also very poor. They are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games and are 4-9 ATS on the year.

While the Eagles aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, at least their offense ranks in the top 150 in scoring. Their defense leaves a lot to be desired but their scoring abilities should be enough to earn them a win and cover here.

Pick: Eastern Michigan -2.5 (-110)
