The New York Jets have an almost entirely new offense. The Jets have a new quarterback, two new running backs, two new wide receivers and a new offensive lineman. With Zach Wilson leading the charge of the new-look Jets, he’ll have to find a go-to receiver -- and he has two good candidates for that spot.

New York signed Corey Davis in free agency and drafted Elijah Moore in the second round of the NFL Draft. Moore has been bubbling in training camp and has positioned himself to take command of the receiving room.

WynnBET is giving Moore +12000 odds to lead the league in receiving yards, while Davis has +20000 odds to do the same. Davis is a fifth-year player, but the odds say he’ll lose the battle to the new kid on the block. Yet I disagree with the odds and I say that Davis is going to have the better year out of the two.

Davis is coming off a career year. In 2020, he had 65 catches for 934 yards and five touchdowns. This should be Davis’ breakout year. For the last two years, he’s played alongside A.J. Brown in a run-heavy offense. Now, he’ll be No. 1 on the depth chart and will give Wilson some veteran presence.

His biggest strength is his speed and ability to play the long ball. Davis has averaged at least 11 yards per reception since he’s come into the league and that certainly isn’t going to stop with Wilson, who’s already shown he has a big arm.

Moore and Wilson’s connection has shown to be strong this preseason, but Davis will show up when and be the top receiver when the games begin to count.
