Evan Mobley Overtakes Jalen Green, Scottie Barnes in NBA Rookie of the Year Odds

There has been a ton of movement atop the NBA Rookie of the Year odds at WynnBET, but the league’s best rookie through the first month, Evan Mobley, is finally now the betting favorite for the award.
Jalen Green (now +400) had held the top spot, but Mobley’s recent play has propelled him to the No. 1 spot over Green and Scottie Barnes.
Now, Mobley did struggle on Monday against the Boston Celtics (going 0-for-11 from the field), but he offers so much on the defensive end as well that makes him the most impactful player in the 2021 NBA Draft Class to date.

Mobley has a unique offensive skillset, as he’s shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, but he’s shown he can take advantage of mismatches in the post as well even with his frame.

He isn’t an elite jump shooter at this point in his career, but the fact that Mobley can space the floor and play alongside Jarrett Allen has done wonders for the Cavs on both sides of the floor.

Cleveland has the No. 7 defensive rating in the NBA this season and it is 9-6 this season. J.B. Bickerstaff’s team might be able to sneak into a playoff spot in the East this season, and if they do Mobley is going to be a huge reason why.
Behind Mobley, Green, Barnes and No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham have all shown flashes at points this season. Green has been an inconsistent scorer, shooting just 36.0 percent from the field, but Houston seems content with letting him lead the offense as it continues to rebuild.
Right now, Mobley is certainly the favorite, but there might be some value in Cunningham, who fell in the odds after missing five of the Detroit Pistons' first six games. Cunningham has put up 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor over his last six contests.
He may not fall lower in the odds this season, and could be worth a bet at +450.
