Everton vs. Newcastle United Prediction and Odds (Magpies a Great Moneyline Play)
By Matt De Saro
Everton and Newcastle will meet for the second time in 2022 this afternoon at Goodison. However, since that game, these two teams have been on totally divergent paths in the lead-up to this EPL showdown.
Since these two teams last met, Newcastle has added centerback Dan Burn from Brighton and extended Eddie Howe as manager. While these may sound like minor moves, they have had a big difference so far. Burn and Fabian Schar have been working together very well to bolster this defense. Meanwhile, the midfield has been dominated by Joe Willock, Joelinton, and Jonko Shelvey. Their mix of balance, speed, and power has helped them avoid a loss in all but one game since these two last played on Feb. 8.
Newcastle United dominated that previous game, eventually winning 3-1 without much drama. But they did not make any notable moves during the transfer window and were recently shut out by Chelsea at home. Can Newcastle bounce back here and beat Everton twice in a row?

Everton vs. Newcastle Prediction and Pick
First off I want to say that I don’t understand why Everton is so heavily favored here. Slim favorites sure, but I can’t wrap my head around the odds here. Everton already lost 3-1 recently to Newcastle and the latter has gotten even better since that game. Everton is also on a four-game losing streak and has been shut out in four straight matches. The team sits just above the relegation line and has shown no real improvement under manager Frank Lampard. However, with Howe taking the reins at Newcastle, it’s clear that the team is getting betting and building momentum.
I think these odds are based too much on the previous game between these two rather than the current state of these squads. I’m going to happily take Newcastle on the 3-way ML to win this game outright.
