Every Mountain West Team's Predicted Win Total for 2022 Season: Can Boise State Get Back to Top of Conference?
By Reed Wallach
Some argue that the Mountain West is the best conference in the Group of Five.
Last year showed the swift competition of the conference as Utah State shockingly ran to the top of the conference, knocking off San Diego State in the process. It's not a two horse conference though as both of those two are pegged closer to the middle in 2022.
There are plenty of conference championship level teams in the Mountain West this season with Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force lined ahead of the two championship game participants from last season.
Let's take a look at the full list of win totals in the MWC in 2022 with some of the latest developments:

Boise State, Fresno State Projected Favorites in Mountain West Conference
Boise State and Fresno State are in a class above every other team in the conference heading into the season. Both have a win total of 9 and are lined anywhere from +220 to +260 depending where you go.
Boise State had a ton of variance in their games, only three were in one score affairs, and they lost all of them. Now, they return starting quarterback Hank Bachmeier and bring back 81% of their tackles from last season on defense. It's year two for head coach Andy Avalos and oddsmakers are expecting the team to return to their standard and compete for a MWC title in 2022.
The other team at the top, Fresno State, has one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Jake Haener, who dabbled in the transfer portal during the winter. Haener nearly joined former Fresno State coach Kalen DeBoer at Washington, but he is back with returning head coach Jeff Tedford and a ton of skill position players.
Haener is a gamer and his play alone makes this team the most dangerous in the conference, and oddsmakers are aware of it as they have a lofty win total of nine and are neck-and-neck with perennial preseason favorite Boise State in the conference championship market.
