Expect a Classic Le'Veon Bell-Like Performance From Najee Harris for Steelers in Week 1
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to replace Le’Veon Bell since he left, and they finally have the guy to do it.
Najee Harris, the Steelers’ first-round draft pick, is in line to receive a heavy workload in Pittsburgh’s offense. In Bell’s last season with the Steelers, he led the league in touches with 406. Asking that much out of Harris might be too extreme, but he will have the ball in his hands a lot -- especially in Week 1.
WynnBET has Harris as the favorite to lead rookies in Week 1 in combined rushing and receiving yards. Harris has -110 odds, with Trey Sermon right behind him at +250.
One of the biggest question marks around Harris’ success has been the level of play of the offensive line. The Steelers’ line had a makeover this offseason and had a lot of unknown variables on the line. However, the preseason has proved that the line has potential to be a formidable one, which is perfect for Harris and his production.
Harris has already shown his ability to make plays in the passing game as well.
If Harris is able to be a consistent threat in the passing game, similar to how Bell would line up all around the field, Ben Roethlisberger’s game could be taken to another level.
Harris finished last season at Alabama with just under 1,900 scrimmage yards. If he could do a fraction of that throughout the season, he could easily be in the discussion for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Pittsburgh starts the season against the Buffalo Bills, who were close to the bottom third in rushing yards allowed. Harris, if allowed by the line, will have a field day and hold true to his odds.
