Expect Ole Miss' Offense to Have Another Big Week
By Ben Heisler
Through two games of the 2021 college football season, the Ole Miss Rebels have scored a combined 97 points in wins vs. Louisville and Austin Peay.
As they head into their Week 3 matchup at home against Tulane, oddsmakers expect the offensive onslaught to continue for the third consecutive week.
WynnBET has Ole Miss listed at +800 odds to be the highest scoring team in Week 3 of college football; the highest ranked on the board. Following the Rebels are Iowa, Liberty and Michigan at +1200, who are followed by Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M at +1500.
WynnBET has the Rebels listed as 14-point favorites on Saturday night at odds of -115 (bet $115 to win $100), with a total of 76; the highest on the board for all the available matchups at WynnBET.
Can anyone stop Ole Miss on offense?
Junior quarterback Matt Corral has picked up 2021 where he left off last season. In Lane Kiffin's offense, Corral has averaged 331 passing yards per game, throwing for six total touchdowns and zero interceptions. He's also led the Rebels with 20 rushing attempts for 90 yards and a score.
The Rebels currently have the fourth ranked offense in all of college football with 1,199 yards of total offense through two games. Only Memphis (1,267), UCF (1,244) and Florida (1,219) have more total yards so far this season.
Corral has shot up the WynnBET Heisman Trophy odds board as well. After starting the year at +2000, he's now second at +550 behind Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma, who started the year as the top favorite, has seen his odds move back to +600.
Could this be a potential trap game for Ole Miss with Alabama coming up?
The Green Wave have been impressive despite their 1-1 record. In Week 1, they nearly knocked off No. 2 Oklahoma in Norman, falling just short in a 40-35 road loss. The next week, they put up 69 points against Morgan State in Birmingham, Alabama, winning by 49 points after putting up 52 points by halftime.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss is now in the AP Top 25 at 2-0, but could potentially get caught looking ahead to an SEC showdown with No. 1 Alabama in its next game. The Crimson Tide demolished No. 24 Miami in their season opener in Atlanta 44-13, before easily dismissing Mercer 48-14 at home.
