Heading into the 2021 season, the Cowboys are extremely confident in their offense. Their receiving core is young, fast and talented and Dak Prescott is going to be healthy after missing most of last season with a broken ankle. However, the player lost in most of the talk is running back Ezekiel Elliott.

2020 was a forgettable year for Elliott. For the first time since he was suspended in 2018, he failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing. Once a staple and the backbone of the Cowboys’ offense, Elliott found himself in the worst season of his career.

Coming into this year, oddsmakers see Elliott bouncing back and returning to form. WynnBET is giving Elliott +1500 odds to lead the league in rushing. Elliott is tied with Packers RB Aaron Jones and Giants RB Saquon Barkley, with all three just outside the top five.

Elliott's numbers should return close to his usual output, especially with Prescott coming back. Elliott handled a lot of the defensive attention in 2020 with Andy Dalton as the quarterback, but Prescott will open up Dallas’ offense and allow Elliott to get through the gaps much easier.

Another issue Elliott will have to work on is his fumbling. Last season, Elliott tied his career-high in fumbles with six. It became so much of an issue, he was eventually benched for Tony Pollard. If he can keep the ball, the Cowboys' offense will be as dangerous as they are making it out to be.

Elliott has led the league in rushing twice, in 2016 as a rookie and in 2018. In both those years, he led the league in attempts as well. Dallas should look like its normal self in 2021 with all of its pieces being reunited.
