Who would’ve thought that a game between the Lions and the Jets in Week 15 would have huge playoff implications? Certainly not me, but here we are as the Lions are surging to 6-7 after their big win over Minnesota last week and the Jets are hanging on to a 7-6 record after losing to Buffalo last week.

The surprises don’t end there though because another big surprise is that the Jets are forced to go back to Zach Wilson after he was benched three weeks ago for Mike White. White isn’t going to be cleared to play in the game, so Wilson will be back under center.

Here is what Vegas thinks about this one and how the line has moved especially with the Zach Wilson news.

The Lions opened as 2.5 point underdogs, but the line has moved three points in their direction as they’re 1.5 point favorites.

Lions vs. Jets Prediction and Pick

Mike White isn’t the biggest loss that New York is suffering this week, Quinnen Williams will likely also be out. The interior defensive lineman has been playing at an all-pro level and he’s the biggest reason for the success of their defense. Williams applying pressure on the quarterback from the inside allows them to blitz at the lowest rate of any team in the NFL this season. They’ll need to dial up more blitzes this week to get to Jared Goff because of how good the Lions O-line is. That will expose their secondary and the Lions will take advantage.

Detroit is fourth in total offense in the NFL, behind Philadelphia and ahead of Cincinnati and they’re fifth in points per game. The offense is legitimately elite and Goff is playing the best football of his career. He has 22 touchdowns to seven interceptions and has his best yards per attempt since his breakout with Sean McVay in 2017-18.

Zach Wilson lost this locker room and it wasn’t just because of a press conference, the Jets don’t trust him to move the ball and complete passes consistently. Detroit’s defense isn’t great, but they’re playing better, specifically against the run and they’ll do enough to get their offense back on the field and win this one on the road.
