It's about time I fully accept how my Atlanta Falcons are going to fare this upcoming NFL season.

I'm usually optimistic at this point of the year, with no real reason to be feeling that way. In 2022, I'm going to be a realist.

Oddsmakers agree with me too. Let's take a look at what WynnBET has the Falcons' odds set at for this season.

Falcons NFL Odds for 2022 Season

  • To Win Super Bowl: +20000
  • To Win NFC: +10000
  • To Win NFC South: +1500
  • Win Total: 4.5 (Over -105/Under -105)

Fade the Falcons in 2022

It's not just the oddsmakers and I who have no faith in the Falcons this year. It seems to be the front office's opinion that 2022 is going to be a punt of a season as well.

The reality is, Atlanta is in cap space hell for another season. They have $56M tied up in two players who know longer play for them, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.

With the patchwork at quarterback in Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder, it's clear they have no intention on winning this year. Once they get Ryan and Julio off their books, they can truly begin to rebuild this team.

Drake London and Kyle Pitts will be bright spots on their offense, and AJ Terrell and Casey Hayward will make their secondary one of the better in the NFC, but the rest of their roster is hoirrble and lacks any significant star power or depth. They might as well have pylons in place of guards on their offensive line, and opposing quarterbacks can take all the time they need in the pocket because there's no resemblance of a pass rush coming at them.

This will be a dark season for the Falcons. They'll likely grab a win or two against the Panthers and/or Saints, and will upset some other team along the way. But, for the first time in my life as a Falcons fan, I'll be placing a sizable wager on them to win fewer than 4.5 games at -105 odds.
