Someone will get a win on their record on Sunday afternoon when the New York Giants host the Atlanta Falcons in a Week 3 matchup between two winless teams.

The Falcons enter the game coming off a 48-25 bombardment from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Giants will try to bounce back after the narrow defeat to the Washington Football Team last Thursday night.

The Falcons have been one of the most disappointing teams through the first two weeks, as early signs indicate they could be in tight contention for the first overall pick by the time the end of the season rolls around. They failed to cover the spread in the first two games and they have an average scoring margin of -24.5.

This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other since October 22nd, 2018. The Falcons won the game 23-20, but failed to cover the spread as 4-point favorites.

Falcons vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

I bet against the Falcons in the first two weeks of the season, cashing in both bets, but now I’m going to back them in this Week 3 matchup.

There is no stat that I can cite to backup this bet, as the Falcons rank near the bottom in almost every single statistics, but they showed signs of life against the Buccaneers in Week 2 and showed a flash of a potential comeback before eventually falling to the defending champions.

The Giants looked like a competent team in Week 2 against Washington, but let’s not forget how abysmal they looked in their Week 1 game against the Broncos. New York is allowing three sacks per game through the first two weeks, which is among the worst in the NFL.

Finally, if we wipe the first results from the first two weeks out of our mind, the Falcons are the better team on paper. They have a former MVP at quarterback, one of the best wideouts in the game in Calvin Ridley, a stud of a rookie tight end in Kyle Pitts, and a new head coach who seemingly has the potential to be great in the NFL.

It’s an ugly bet, but I’ll take the Falcons and the points in this NFC matchup. It’s set to begin on Sunday at 1pm et.
