The Atlanta Falcons hit the road this weekend to take on the New Orleans Saints at Ceasars Superdome. The Falcons come off a tight loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, 19-13. It was a very slow day for this offense, totaling less than 220 yards on offense and had trouble in the turnover battle.

New Orleans managed to beat the Bucs yesterday in an impressive win, but, may have lost their starting QB, Jameis Winston for the foreseeable future with a knee injury. The offense was phenomenal for the Saints this weekend, putting up 361 yards on offense and beating Tampa 36-27. Their defense, however, was a different story. The Saints are actually lucky to have won this game after surrendering 421 yards to Tom Brady’s offense. Luckily for them, Brady made a few very un-GOAT-like mistakes, including two interceptions.

Falcons vs. Saints Prediction and Pick

For a team that is struggling on offense, the Falcons got some bad news from one of their best players. For personal reasons that remain unknown, wide receiver Calvin Ridley will be stepping away from football to focus on other things. This is not only a big distraction for the team but also a big loss on offense.

Speaking of key players not suiting up for this game, it appears likely that Jameis Winston suffered a significant ACL injury against the Bucs on Sunday. Filling in for Winston will be Trevor Siemian who threw for 159 yards and a touchdown in relief of Winston. While those are solid numbers for a half-a-game, Siemian is a significant downgrade at quarterback.

With Atlanta struggling on offense before losing their best receivers, averaging just 21.1 PPG, I don’t see how they will score much moving forwards. It’s sad that what might be Matt Ryan’s last season will be this kind of a letdown, but the 3-4 Falcons just don’t have the talent or the play right now to compete with the better teams in the league. Even without Winston, the Saints do fall into that category and should have a relatively easy time with the Falcons in Week 9.
