There are many similarities between the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks this season. Most notably, they both traded away their franchise quarterback and are hitting the reset button this season.

I never would have thought that in the year 2022 we would have a game where Marcus Mariota and Geno Smith were the two starting quarterbacks. I would have said you were crazy, but here we are.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Odds, Spread and Total

Seattle and Atlanta Betting Trends

  • Atlanta is 2-0 ATS this year
  • Seattle is 1-1 ATS with one outright win as an underdog
  • Falcons are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine road games.
  • The OVER is 5-1 the last six times the Falcons played in Seattle.
  • The OVER is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these teams
  • Seahawks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Prediction and Pick

Yes, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Broncos in Week 1 and the Falcons are 0-2, but Atlanta is a much better team. The Falcons should have held on to win in Week 1 against New Orleans and they nearly came all the way back to win in Week 2 against Los Angeles. Seattle’s win looks worse every minute that we see Nathaniel Hackett on the Broncos sideline and it looked bad in the moment.

Seattle had no business winning that game and got incredibly lucky, yet that win is being factored into this line. Then in Week 2 we watched as Geno completed nearly all of his passes and scored zero offensive points. He went 24/30 and didn’t even throw for 200 yards. Their touchdown came on a blocked punt, so the game looked closer than it was. This Seattle team is bad and while Atlanta certainly isn’t good, they have more talent across the board.

Marcus Mariota is not a franchise quarterback but he is a lot more dynamic than Geno Smith. He led the Falcons to 17 points in the fourth quarter against LA which is 17 more than Seattle’s offense could muster all day.

The fact that Seattle is 1-1 has shifted this line by 2.5 or three points, it should be a pick’em, but instead the Seahawks are slight home favorites when they have no reason to be.

Pick: Falcons +115
