Some of our favorites disappointed us last week. Iowa State failed to cover their big spread on FCS Northern Iowa and No. 20 Washington Huskies got beat at home to the Montana Grizzlies, just to name a few. When favorites fail, it can be absolutely devastating and downright disgusting.

But these disgusting things will happen, and they’re going to happen again this week.

Let’s look at which college football favorites we should consider fading in Week 2.

All odds are courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Nebraska Cornhuskers (-13.5) vs. Buffalo Bulls

I love fading Nebraska, and as long as Adrian Martinez is their quarterback, I will continue going to this fruitful well.

Nebraska is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a win, and they just walloped Fordham last week, 52 to 7.

Unimpressed!

Not to forget, the Buffalo Bulls have straight up won nine of their last ten games. Who cares if Nebraska is a Big 10 team? They certainly aren’t the class of their division. No matter who their opponent is, this Buffalo team is no pushover.

I’m fading the ‘Huskers. Nebraska is going to struggle to cover that -13.5 point spread, and possibly lose this game.

Temple Owls (-7) vs. Akron Zips

After the way they have been playing, Temple shouldn’t be favored by a touchdown against anyone. They just got stomped by Rutgers, 61-14, and the Owls’ quarterback, D’Wan Mathis completed just 8 of 24 passes.

Akron also lost big last week, 60 to 10, but at least they lost to Auburn. The Zips can still hold onto some of their self-respect after that one. Can’t say the same for Temple, though.

Temple won’t cover this spread of -7. Although, they might have to cover their face in defeat.

Lookout for the Zips and fade the Owls.

Miami Hurricanes (-8.5) vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers

Miami just got decimated at home by Alabama last week. That can be demoralizing for a program looking to make a statement, as the Hurricanes intended to do.

The Hurricanes get to stay at home for a second week in a row, but they will be visited by an Appalachian State team that has covered the spread in six of their last seven contests as an underdog. Appalachian State is a popular pick to win the Sun Belt Conference and they are hoping quarterback Chase Brice can limit mistakes in their offense.

The Mountaineers can play up to their competition. I think it will happen again this week. Fade the Hurricanes at -8.5 and take Appalachian State at +8.5.
