Fever vs. Mystics prediction and odds for Wednesday, July 19 (Trust Indiana to cover)
By Peter Dewey
The Indiana Fever are in an awful slump right now, losing eight straight games and nine of their last 10 matchups to fall into last place in the Eastern Conference.
Indiana got off to such a promising start behind No. 1 overall pick Aliyah Boston, but the team’s No. 11 defense has certainly held it back.
The Fever will look to turn things around against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night, who currently are 11-8 after winning their final game before the All-Star break.
Washington is banged up, and it could be without several players in this game:
Washington Mystics injury report
- Elena Delle Donne (out, ankle)
- Shakira Austin (out, hip)
- Kristi Toliver (out, foot)
- Ariel Atkins (out)
With so many key rotation players out, the Mystics may have a hard time covering in this game, even at home. Indiana lost to the Mystics by eight in Washington earlier this month.
Let’s dive into the odds and my best bet for this Wednesday night matchup:

Fever vs. Mystics prediction and pick
With the Mystics banged up, I’m going to take a shot on Indiana to cover in this game.
The Fever have not played winning basketball as of late, but the team is not getting blown out either. Over this eight game losing streak, the team has just two losses by double digits, and one of those came on the road against the 19-2 Las Vegas Aces.
Boston and the Fever have actually covered the spread in seven road games this season (7-4-1 ATS), an impressive feat for a team that has just five total wins.
The Mystics are three of their four leading scorers if Delle Donne, Austin and Atkins are all forced to miss this game.
Even though Washington has the No. 2 defensive rating in the league, I don’t know if it will be able to score enough to win this game going away. I’ll take a chance on the Fever keeping this one close.
