Florida Golf Coast and San Diego both opened their seasons with wins on Monday, and now they’ll face off in what should be a fun matchup on Wednesday night.

FGCU pulled off a huge win over USC in its season opener, outplaying the Trojans in the second half behind 20 points from Chase Johnston. The 13-point win showed that the Eagles are still a strong mid-major squad, yet they come into this game as a road dog.

San Diego easily handled Sonoma State with a 22-point win on Monday, but the Toreros weren’t exactly great in the West Coast Conference last season going 7-9 in conference play and 15-16 overall.

Here are the latest odds for this matchup on Wednesday:

FGCU vs. San Diego Prediction and Pick

FGCU got Pat Chambers’ team debut off to a great start against USC, and I can’t see how this team is a dog here, even on the road.

The Eagles won 22 games last season and a game in the ASUN tournament, while San Diego was one of the worst teams in the WCC. FGCU has a veteran team with seven seniors and two graduate players, so I don’t expect a let down after a big win against a Power Five team.

The Eagles added Purdue transfer Isaiah Thompson (16 points against USC) ahead of this season as well.

Steve Lavin has added a bunch of top-tier talent to San Diego’s roster, including two Pac-12 transfers in Stanford's Jaiden Delaire and Oregon's Eric Williams Jr.

After covering and winning outright by 13 as huge underdogs against USC, FGCU deserves more respect. I’ll back the Eagles to at least cover on Wednesday.
