Flames vs. Oilers Game 3 Prediction and Odds (Total Can't be High Enough)
By Matt De Saro
The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers are setting the scoreboard on fire so far in their first two-game of this second-round playoff series. They have already outscored the rest of the field easily after combining for 23 goals in the first two games. So, I have to say I’m a bit surprised to see the total at just 6.5 for Game 3 in Edmonton. While I don’t expect another 15-goal game, It’s worth thinking about how this series has gone so far.
Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Flames vs. Oilers Prediction and Pick
The Flames and Oilers both ranked in the top 10 of scoring during the regular season, so these games being high scoring isn’t all that shocking. But the sheer numbers are. I mean, 23 goals combined in two games of a second-round playoff series is crazy. Especially against two teams that are so well matched on paper.
The Oilers are averaging 4.22 goals per game and lead the NHL during the playoffs in this category with 99 total points. The Oilers also have the top two points leaders on the roster in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl with 20 and 15 points respectively. Johnny Gaudreau of Calgary is third with 13 points in nine games. But, the Oilers also have allowed 3.22 goals per game during the playoffs.
I won’t complicate things too much here. It’s crystal clear that these two teams are scoring machines when they come face to face. These two teams went 2-1 on the OVER during the regular season to bring the total to 4-1 including the playoffs. The last game they played was a 9-5 win for Calgary. This means that in their last three games, the Flames and Oilers have combined to score 37 total goals. I see no reason to fade this trend in Game 3 or beyond.
Pick: OVER 6.5 (-130)
