Flames vs. Rangers Prediction and Odds: New York Will Make It Five Straight Wins

The Calgary Flames (2-1-1) have won two in a row, defeating the Washington Capitals on Saturday, 4-3 in overtime. Center Elias Lindholm recorded a hat trick in the win, and now has six goals in the first four games this season.

Jacob Markstrom (1-1-1, 2.31 GAA, .924 SV%) will be in net tonight for the Flames. In his last outing he posted a shutout win against the Detroit Red Wings.

The New York Rangers (4-1-1) just completed a four game sweep on their road trip and will return home to Madison Square Garden. 

Igor Shesterkin (3-0-1, 1.48 GAA, .953 SV%) will be in between the pipes tonight for the Rangers. Shesterkin has won his last three appearances and has not allowed more than one goal in each contest.

New York will be without right wing Kaapo Kakko tonight, but should see the return of center Ryan Strome. The Rangers top power play unit of Strome, Chris Kreider, Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad and Adam Fox is a powerful unit, and could fill the net often if given the opportunity. 

The Rangers are currently second in the NHL in power-play opportunities, finding a way to draw penalties. Calgary has only found themselves short handed three times in the first four games, so their seldom-used penalty killing unit could be caught on its heels tonight.

I’m going to stand by New York head coach Gerard Gallant and ride the hot goalie in Igor Shesterkin, too.
