Flames vs Red Wings Prediction: Detroit Will Continue Hot Start to Season
The Detroit Red Wings, who everyone thought would be one of the worst teams in the NHL this season, has got off to a solid start, going 2-0-1 through their first three games. They’re set to host the 0-1-1 Calgary Flames in a Thursday night interconference matchup.
The hot start for the Red Wings could be a promising sign of things to come, but oddsmakers still aren’t convinced that they’re for real. WynnBET still has them listed at an astronomical number of +15000 (bet $100 to win $15,000) to win the Stanley Cup.
Detroit will host a well-rested Flames team tonight, who hasn’t played since their Monday night overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The Flames are one of only a small handful of teams that have yet to play three games this season.

Red Wings vs Flames Prediction and Pick
I’ll gladly back the Red Wings as home underdogs in this one at +120.
This is less of a bet on how solid Detroit has looked this season, and more of a fade of a Flames team that I didn’t like heading into the 2021-22 campaign. They finished with a losing record at 26-27-3 in a weak Canadian division last year, and missed the postseason. Their roster isn’t anything to write home about, but yet oddsmakers are still treating them as if they’re a good hockey club.
Meanwhile, while the Red Wings won’t be able to keep up their early season success, they’re certainly a team that’s heading in the right direction. There’s a lot to like about the moves that the front office has made, and a young hockey team can be dangerous at times. I like them as a home underdog tonight.
