Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Prediction and Odds (Yellow Jackets Are Not the Underdog You're Looking For)

The Florida State Seminoles are on a six-game win streak heading into tonight’s road game against ACC rivals, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech has not been so lucky this season and is just 1-6 in conference play this season. Tech is coming off a 103-53 win but it was over DII team Clayton State. The question is whether that game in any way prepared them to put up a fight against FSU. The Yellow Jackets swept this series last year, but the Seminoles are a much-improved group while Georgia Tech has been struggling.

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Prediction and Pick

I think at this point in the season it is safe to say that Georgia Tech is the worst team in the ACC this season. While the Yellow Jackets are in the basement in the standings, my negativity toward them extends way past their win/loss record.

First off, their offense is anemic at best and rank 227th in overall scoring with 68.2 points per game. They rank outside of the top 200 in field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and shooting efficiency. Their greatest strength on offense is their 3-point shooting which is 115th in the nation.

Other than that it’s all bad news for this team on the stat sheet. Pretty much all the Noles need to do in this game is play tight perimeter defense and take smart shots on offense.

Now, don’t be fooled into thinking that FSU is a “good team.” The Noles are far from it in fact. Their offense ranks 95th in overall scoring and their defense is 144th in points allowed. FSU’s biggest weakness is its shooting defense. It allows teams to shoot over 42 percent overall and 35 percent from deep. Still, across the board, the Seminoles are a much better team and should make quick work of the Yellow Jackets on the road.

Lean: Florida State -5.5 (-110)
