Formula 1 Odds: Ferrari New Favorite to Win Constructors Championship
What a difference a year makes.
In 2021, the Formula 1 hierarchy went Mercedes, Red Bulls, and then everyone else. Mercedes won the Constructors Championship with 613.5 points and then Red Bull was comfortably in second place with 585.5. They left Ferrari, who finished third, in their dust, only totaling 323.5 points.
We're only three races into the new season, and things have already changed dramatically and Ferrari is now the odds-on favorite to win the Constructors Championship for the first time since 2008.
Let's look at the latest top 5 odds to win it, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

What Happened to Mercedes?
Mercedes won the Constructors Championship for eight-straight years from 2014-2021, but now they won't even come in second. What happened to them?
As part of the new technical rules implemented by Formula 1 this season, a phenomenon known as "ground effect" has become an issue that constructors have had to deal with. Unfortunately for Mercedes, they are having a much tougher time adjusting to it than other constructors. They are suffering from "bouncing", which is caused by air getting underneath the car.
Mercedes' new build, the W13, is struggling with this issue more than other cars in the circuit, and the fix isn't an easy or simple one.
I'm no mechanic, so I can't speak on this issue further, but that gives you a general understanding as to why Mercedes has been second-class to Red Bull and Ferrari this season.
Can Ferrari Win the Constructors Championship?
Charles Leclerc has been a dominant driver so far this season, winning two of the first three races. He's largely doing so due to both Mercedes and Red Bull experiences some sort of issues with their cars.
Ferrari winning the Constructors Championship isn't necessarily going to rely on the performance of Leclerc and his teammate Carlos Sainz, but moreso whether or not Red Bull and Mercedes can fix their issues. If they can't, Ferrari will run away with it this year.
The next race on the schedule is the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy in two weeks.
