Formula 1 Odds: Ferrari vs. Red Bull, Who Will Win Constructors Championship?
By Matt De Saro
The 2022 Formula 1 season is now six races old and we’ve already seen a bunch of drama unfold over the last couple of months. Team Ferrari got off to an early lead in the Constructors Championship with two wins in their first three races. Charles Leclerc earned both of those wins, one at the Bahrain Grand Prix and the other in Australia. Thanks to this hot start, team Ferrari currently leads all teams with 157 points.
However, Ferrari is not alone atop the mountain by any means. In fact team Red Bull Racing trails by just six points after winning three of the first five races outright. The defending F1 World Drivers’ Champion, Max Verstappen, can be thanked for that. With wins in Saudi Arabia, Emilia Romagna, and Miami, Verstappen looks poised to make another run at the title. To do so, a strong showing at next weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix is key.
A win there would not only put them in the lead for the Constructors Championship, but it would also put Verstappen in the lead for the Drivers Championship.
So, if we are looking to bet on one of these teams to win the title, which is the better bet?
Formula 1 Constructors Championship Odds
Well, if the odds are to be believed, then team Ferrari and team Red Bull are neck and neck at -110. The next closest team is team Mercedes at +2200. All other teams are 100/1 or greater.
I think, based on the current situation in F1, that team Red Bull has my vote as the best bet between the pair of current contenders. For starters, they would be well in the lead already had it not been for two unfortunate DNFs in the first five races. So, while scoring points in just three of five-race, they still are right on Ferrari’s heels. I also think that Verstappen is a stronger driver and will remain consistent through the season.
One thing I want to mention before I finish is the team from Mercedes. Thye won the 2021 Constructors Championship by just 26 points and added to their streak of winning the title every year since 2014. But the team is off to a miserable start thanks to Lewis Hamilton’s poor showing in the first five races. They are still in striking range and would be my best bet between the top three favorites.
