Things seem to be going well for USC in Lincoln Riley’s first season leading the Trojans. They are already No. 7 in the country after picking up their first Pac-12 win last week against Stanford.

Fresno State lost in Week 2 to Oregon State, but comes into Southern California as not nearly the underdog you would expect. It’s a much smaller spread for Saturday’s Mountain West vs. Pac 12 matchup.

Fresno State vs. USC Prediction and Pick

Am I missing something? Why is this game only a 12.5 or 12 point spread? USC is the No. 7 team in the country right? And Fresno State just lost to Oregon State which is a completely inferior team to USC.

Vegas must not believe in the USC defense against Jake Haener who some evaluators believe is a legit NFL prospect. Haener threw for 360 on Oregon State and the Fresno State offense put up 32 points. I do think that Fresno State can score on USC because Lincoln Riley used most of his resources to fix the offense. The defense is a year behind at USC, but what indication is there that the Bulldogs will have any chance of stopping the Trojans?

Fresno State hasn’t covered a spread this year and all USC has done is win big and cover. Caleb Williams went 20-for-27 for 341 and four touchdowns on Stanford, what will he do against a Mountain West opponent?

I honestly think this is a rat line and that’s why I’m staying away. I can’t see any reason for it to only be a 12 point spread, that’s what we see when one of the top four teams plays the No. 10 team in college football right now, but No. 7 is only a 12 point favorite over an unranked group of five team? I’m staying away, but if anything I’d say let’s lean over.

Lean: Over 74.5 (-110)
