The 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race is shaping up to be as interesting as it has been in past years, and one player is already receiving a ton of love in the betting market.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has surged to the top of the odds board after several highlights in training camp and Week 1 of the NFL preseason. The former Georgia standout has emerged as a key contributor heading into the season, and the market has responded with bettors searching for someone to bet with limited options, considering little to none quarterbacks will be in the mix early on.

George Pickens Makes Early Statement for Offensive Rookie of the Year

Pickens only played 21 snaps in the preseason opener, but caught three of his five targets for 43 yards and also hauled in a touchdown.

Pickens also laid out a cornerback, showcasing his strength at the line of scrimmage.

It's worth noting that Kenny Pickett, the favorite to win this award despite not being listed as No. 1 on the Steelers depth chart, completed 13-of-15 passes in this game, but it was Pickens who stole the show with his fantastic grab in the end zone.

Pickens has surged all the way up the board with some books even installing him as the favorite as a bevy of money comes in on the Georgia prospect. However, it's worth noting that the Steelers' offense is projected to be in the bottom half of the league this season with quarterback questions (including Pickett).

Historically, this award is set for the best performing quarterback, but with none projected to start in Week 1, bettors are flocking to wide receivers like Pickens at longer odds.

Keep an eye on more reports out of training camp as to who is running with the first team and producing and get ahead of moves like Pickens, who opened north of +4000 to win the award.
