Georgetown has had an up-and-down season so far, but the Hoyas have a chance to gain some momentum when they head to Colonial Life Arena to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday.

Georgetown enters the game with a 3-3 record, having handled Longwood 91-83 in its last game out. South Carolina, on the other hand, are 5-2 on the season but look to bounce back after an embarrassing 80-56 loss to Coastal Carolina on December 1st. The Gamecocks are an undefeated 4-0 at home this season.

Georgetown vs. South Carolina Prediction and Pick

South Carolina's bread is buttered on the defensive side of the court. The Gamecocks rank 48th in the country in defensive efficiency this season, but it's important to note that they've yet to be challenged. The majority of power five teams have faced at least one other power five opponent, but that hasn't been the case for South Carolina.

The same can be said for Georgetown, but San Diego State and Saint Joseph's are stronger opponents than anyone South Carolina has played against to-date. Georgetown, while solid defensively, will have a significant advantage on offense in this game. The Hoyas rank 121st in offensive efficiency, which is much better than South Carolina, which ranks 241st.

The Gamecocks have also struggled in the turnover department, ranking 307th in turnovers per possession.

Given the strength of schedule and the problems on offense and with turnovers, I like Georgetown getting the points in this interconference showdown.

Pick: Georgetown +4.5
