Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse Prediction and Odds (Stick with the Orange to Cover Fifth Straight at Home)
By Joe Summers
Winners of five of their last six, the 14-12 Syracuse Orange hope to stay hot when they host the 11-15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
Georgia Tech beat Pitt 68-62 in their last contest to snap a three-game losing streak but is just 9-15-1 against the spread (ATS) on the season.
Can the Yellow Jackets make it two wins in a row or does the value lie with Syracuse to keep it rolling?
Let's take a look at the odds via WynnBET:
Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse Odds, Spread and Total

- Georgia Tech: +8.5 (-110)
- Syracuse: -8.5 (-110)

Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse Prediction and Pick
At 9-4 ATS over their last 13 games, the Orange are peaking at the right time behind a strong offense that Bart Torvik ranks 15th nationally in adjusted efficiency. With a top-50 offensive turnover rate and the 13th-best three-point shooting percentage in the country, they're a threat to explode at any time.
They'll take on a solid Georgia Tech defense that specializes in perimeter defending, ranking 63rd in the country in opposing three-point shooting. It's a strength versus strength matchup, but even if Syracuse has a poor shooting night I'm not sure the Yellow Jackets have the offense to keep up.
Georgia Tech ranks just 246th in adjusted offensive efficiency with the 268th-highest offensive rebounding rate and 329th-best free throw rate. They'll need to hit shots to stay in this game because they aren't going to give themselves extra chances.
Despite a win in their last game, the Yellow Jackets are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven and 1-4 in their last five as a road underdog. Meanwhile, the Orange have won and covered in four straight at home and beat North Carolina State, who trounced Georgia Tech by 15, earlier this month.
I think the Yellow Jackets win over Pitt is giving us value on Syracuse today and like the Orange to stay hot. They need convincing wins to try to put together a good resume for the NCAA Tournament and know they can't afford any mistakes. I'm riding with the Orange to cover their fifth straight at home.
Pick: Syracuse -8.5
