The 11-10 Virginia Tech Hokies are set to face the 9-11 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a battle of middling teams in the ACC. The Hokies enter this game with a 3-7 conference record and rank 12th while the Yellow Jackets are dead last with a 2-7 mark in ACC play. GT won the lone game these two teams played last season but this Yellow Jackets team is definitely a step down from last season’s squad. Which of these two struggling rivals comes out on top tonight and which falls deeper into despair?

Here are the odds for this ACC showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech Prediction and Pick

I was actually foolish enough to think that the Yellow Jackets might have turned a corner last week when they took out Florida State by 15 points as five-point underdogs at home. But, how did they follow up? They went out and lost to Miami by 11 on Saturday and reminded me just how bad this team really is. I won’t be making that mistake again tonight.

GT enters this game having covered just once in their last five games and a 3-8-1 ATS mark as underdogs this season. Their offense ranks outside of the top 225 in overall scoring and their defense is 200th in overall rebounding. They shoot well under 50 percent from the two-point range and just 67.2 percent from the charity stripe. One nugget of wisdom I can offer is to be very wary of teams that can't shoot free throws.

Moving over to VT, I am not impressed much by their offense but their defense is very strong and should be able to win this game on its own. The Hokies have the 24th ranked scoring defense in the nation and rank 31st in opponent total rebounds per game. VT also shoots the ball very well with an effective field goal percentage of 55.3 ranking them 17th in the country. The Hokies are also the third most efficient team from downtown.

I don’t love taking a double-digit spread with a total this low, but I have no faith in Georgia Tech at this point and think VT should cruise to a win here.

Lean: Virginia Tech -10.5 (+100)
