Giannis Antetokounmpo's Finals MVP Odds Plummet After Game 5 Loss
When Giannis Antetokounmpo fumbled Khris Middleton’s pocket pass at the end of Game 5, the Milwaukee Bucks essentially lost the game. Milwaukee is on the brink of elimination down 3-2, and as the Bucks are falling, so are Antetokounmpo’s Finals MVP odds.
After Game 4, Antetokounmpo’s odds had skyrocketed up to No. 2 in the standings. Then after the Bucks lost, his odds fell and put him further on the list. WynnBET now has is odds at +600.
Kevin Durant, who may have had his greatest game ever in Game 5, is still No. 1 in the standings and had his odds get even better.
Durant may have solidified his status as the favorite in Game 5. A 49-point triple double while playing all 48 minutes is something we may never see again. In a game both teams desperately needed, Durant performed to the best of his abilities and outshined Antentokounmpo at the end.
While Antentokounmpo had a great game -- 34 points, 12 rebounds, 50% from 3 and 63.6% from the field -- his late game performance is what did him and the Bucks in Game 5.
Antentokounmpo is now sitting behind Devin Booker (+475). Antetokounmpo is tied with Booker's teammate, Chris Paul, at +600. The only way for Antentokounmpo to raise himself back up is to win Game 6 back in Milwaukee.
The Greek Freak has been great in these playoffs. He’s averaging 27.4 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists. However, he has struggled mightily behind the arc and at the free throw line, shooting 17.1% and 52.2%, respectively.
Antetokounmpo needs to figure out how to shoot to unlock his full potential, but his main focus right now should be not being sent home.
The Bucks have a lot to figure out if they want to make it to the Conference Finals, much less the NBA Finals.
