Two National League Pennant contenders start a series in Milwaukee on Monday night.

2021 NL Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes draws the start for the Milwaukee Brewers at home on Monday against the San Francisco Giants, who had the best record in all of baseball last season.

The Brewers enter 10-6 on the season while the Giants come to Milwaukee 11-5 on the year. Who has the edge in this one off game (which is a make up game due to the late start to the season) with odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook? Let's find out:

Giants vs. Brewers Odds, Run Line, Total

Run Line:

  • Giants: +1.5 (-125)
  • Brewers: -1.5 (+104)

Moneyline:

  • Giants: +180
  • Brewers: -200

Total: 7 (Over -110/Under -110)

Giants vs. Brewers Prediction and Pick

Burnes is following up his Cy Young season with fantastic results, posting a 2.37 ERA through 4 starts. While he has allowed a few more homers to start the season, 3 already after giving up just 7 in 2021, he still is the elite pitcher we saw last season.

He'll be facing a Giants offense that is far from special this season, 15th in wRC+ (which accounts for run scoring chances normalized across stadiums) as well as on-base percentage.

This is setting up for a bit of a pitcher's duel as the Giants counter with Sam Long and their deep bullpen. Long may not be elite, 9.64 ERA in 2022, but he also won't be asked to do all that much but go through the order once. After that, it'll be the San Fran pen that carries them home, which has a Major League Baseball best 1.71 ERA.

It helps that Long, a lefty, will be facing a Brewers lineup that has the second lowest batting average against southpaws this season, checking in at .176.

The total is low and for good reason, but I still think this is setting up for a rock fight between two elite pitching staffs and two offense that struggle to generate explosive offense.
