Giants vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick
The Giants have lost five games in a row, and eight of their last ten. Over that stretch of ten games, the Giants have hit .224 and have an alarming 4.91 team ERA. Over the last month of play, they rank 25th in the MLB offensively, they have the fourth highest strikeout rate at 24.6%, and rank 26th in slugging percentage. They have scored the 27th most runs over the stretch of games.
Over that same stretch, Arizona ranks 12th in runs scored but is 28th in weighted runs created plus. Arizona’s real problems have come on the mound as they have a 5.91 ERA over their last ten and are 23rd in the league in team ERA over the past month.
San Francisco’s pitching has kept them afloat and above .500 while the bats have gone cold with the 2nd best fielding independent pitching in the league at 3.30.
Tyler Gilbert is making his 4th start of the season for Arizona, last time out on June 7 he did not make it through the second inning. He gave up six earned runs against Cincinnati, another one of the league’s worst offenses. If there is ever a chance for the San Francisco lineup to wake up from their extended slumber, it is tonight against Gilbert.
Pick: Giants -158
