After getting swept by the Chicago White Sox at home, San Francisco heads down to Arizona for a three-gamer with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The San Francisco Giants now sit at 40-37 dangerously close to falling out of the playoff picture, now two games back of St. Louis for the final wild card spot and heading in the wrong direction.

Arizona is also bottoming out, they have lost their last two and now sit tied for last place in the NL West with Colorado at 35-44.

Game 1 will feature two lefties on the mound, Carlos Rodon for San Fran and former Giant Madison Bumgarner going for the Diamondbacks.

Giants vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick

You would be hard pressed to find a team in the MLB, who has been worse than San Francisco has over its last 10. They are 2-8 over that stretch and extending it out, they have won three of their last 13 games.

That sounds bad, but the context makes it even worse. The Giants' 13 games were played against Pittsburgh, Atlanta, then Cincinnati, Detroit and Chicago. Excluding Atlanta, that should have been one of the easier stretches of their season and they have botched it entirely.

The Diamondbacks have not been all that much better sporting a 3-7 record over their last 10. David Peralta has carried the offense over the stretch going 10-26 with two doubles and three home runs, and he has a 1.279 OPS the past week.

However, Peralta struggles in left on left matchups, he has managed just a .469 OPS. He only has five starts against left-handed starting pitchers. If the Diamondbacks don’t have their main offensive catalyst, then it could be a tough day for Arizona. Though it is tough to back San Francisco at the moment, so let’s fade both.

Pick: Under 8.0 (-110)
