Giants vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, July 27 (Arizona Live for Sweep)
By Reed Wallach
The Arizona Diamondbacks may not be contending for a playoff berth but they are fine playing spoiler for others.
Arizona has taken the first two games from the San Francisco Giants by a combined score of 14-3 and now send out their best pitcher to complete the sweep of their NL West rival in Zac Gallen.
Here are the odds and our best bets for Wednesday afternoon's game between the D-Backs and Giants.
Giants vs. Diamondbacks Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Giants: -1.5 (+140)
- Diamondbacks: +1.5 (-170)
Moneyline:
- Giants: -109
- Diamondbacks: -101
Total:
- 8 (Over -105/Under -115)
Giants vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick
I like the Diamondbacks to pick up another win over the sputtering Giants as they continue to showcase their talented players ahead of the trade deadline.
Since the start of July, Arizona has been significantly better than the Giants at the plate, ranking sixth in wRC+ which is far ahead of the Giants ranking of 20th. The difference there should negate any sort of advantage Logan Webb boasts on Gallen, if there is any.
Gallen may not be posting Cy Young numbers he was showing early on, but he's still putting together a strong season, a 3.31 ERA and has been in good form of late, allowing just one run in his last 13.2 innings spanning two starts.
Webb is still a front line starter with a 2.77 ERA with a low home run rate and walk rate, but the Giants bullpen has failed the team, posting the fifth worst ERA as a unit this season.
San Francisco is now one game under .500, and I don't see it getting any better with their hitting profile in July. Give me the D-Backs to finish up the sweep.
LEAN: Diamondbacks ML (-101)
