The 40-39 San Francisco Giants have lost six straight and are in desperate need of a bounce-back win against the 37-44 Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at 9:40 PM EST.

Alex Cobb aims to stop the slide, though the Giants are 3-7 in his last 10 starts. He hasn't allowed a run in back-to-back outings, but poor defense and run support have plagued him all season.

Arizona sends Merrill Kelly to the mound gunning for a sweep. He's thrown at least six innings in five straight starts and is coming off seven one-run innings against the Rockies.

Can Cobb finally give San Francisco a win or will Kelly give the home squad three straight wins?

Giants vs Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick

The Giants' lineup is struggling in a bad way. They haven't scored more than four runs in nearly two weeks and to make matters worse, their bullpen seems to have abandoned any semblance of "good performance."

But Alex Cobb has sneakily been excellent all season and should give San Francisco every opportunity to end their slide. His 2.51 expected ERA is miles better than his 4.59 actual ERA, and you'd think at some point his luck will turn around.

Somehow, someway though, the Giants seem destined to find a way to lose. Merrill Kelly rebounded from a mid-season slump to get back into form, and I see the pitching matchup as a draw.

That's bad news for San Francisco, because the Diamondbacks have a huge advantage offensively. They're seventh in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last three weeks while the Giants are 28th, and I just don't see any way we can trust their lineup.

Thus, I'm backing both Arizona as home underdogs and the under. It's hit in three straight starts by Cobb and is 8-2-1 in the Diamondbacks' last 11 as home 'dogs. Expect a low-scoring affair that Arizona pulls out narrowly.

Pick: Diamondbacks (+114) and Under 8.5 (-115)
