Giants vs Jets Prediction: Underdog Giants and Daniel Jones Should Tear Up Porous Jets
The annual Giants-Jets preseason game, which no one in this area of the country cares about by the way, is here. Only this year, despite the lack of Tri-State-area interest, it's important for multiple reasons.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is playing for his job. Jets backup Joe Flacco is playing for his starting career. Jets coach Robert Saleh is under the microscope and both teams are trying to assess who belongs with this franchise long term.
Whenever everyone is playing for their paycheck, the game is always interesting.
Below, you'll find my betting pick for the game along with more analysis. But let's start off with the odds.

For those who don't know, the Giants and Jets scrimmaged this week and Daniel Jones looked...good? I know, I know, shocking, but reports from the scrimmage indicated Jones was able to complete nearly all of his passes.
An interception not withstanding, this continues a trend for the Jets defense, especially the starting unit. They were tore up by Marcus Mariota and the Falcons in last week's preseason game (Mariota was 6-10 for 132 yards and a touchdown pass and the Falcons scored on two of three possessions) and when the Falcons are tearing you up, you know you're not a good unit.
Meanwhile the Giants offense has found success both with the starting unit and backups. That gives me confidence they can score early and often, whether it's the motivated Jones out there or backup Davis Webb.
The Jets should be able to score on the Giants too because the Giants defense stinks so far this preseason. The difference, in my eyes, is the Giants have more depth on offense and their starting unit has more talent.
Flacco knows this is his last, or maybe his second-to-last, chance to prove he's a starter in this league. Newsflash: He hasn't been a competent starter since 2014, though he did retain that job with the Falcons until 2017.
Give me a young QB playing for his life and a unit that's been hot against an old, washed up guy playing with inferior talent any day of the week.
