Tuesday’s San Francisco Giants-New York Mets game will now be the second game as a doubleheader due to Monday’s game getting postponed. This should be a great series with both teams playing very well out of the gate.

The Mets are 4-1 in their last five games and lead the NL East with a 7-3 overall record. Their offense has looked great with a combined total of 26 runs scored in their last four games. The Giants, meanwhile, are on a five-game win streak after sweeping the Cleveland Guardians in three games. They are tied with the Dodgers for the lead in the NL West with a 7-2 overall record.

Logan Webb is expected to start for the Giants while Max Scherzer will take the hill for the Mets.

Giants vs. Mets Prediction and Pick

We could be in for an epic pitching duel between these two. Webb is coming off two excellent starts to begin the season that have him sporting a 1.29 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in 14 innings. He has given up just one earned run in each of his first two starts and has a strikeout to walk ratio of 10:1. Worth noting that the current Mets have a combined .394 batting average against Webb. But, he looks locked in right now.

Scherzer also looked great to start the season with two strong starts. He got touched a little in his first start against Washington with three earned runs in six innings. Scherzer snapped back on Wednesday and held the Phillies to one run off five hits in five innings of work. His pitch count is something that I want to keep an eye on moving forward. It took him 96 pitches to get through six innings against the Phillies.

I think that many people are still not sold on the Giants. After leading the MLB in wins last year, many passed it off as a fluke. But, how long can they keep winning at a high level before people start to take notice?
