Giants vs. Nationals Prediction and Odds (Fade Sanchez in his Return to the Mound)
By Matt De Saro
The San Francisco Giants have proven their detractors right after a rough week of baseball in New York. The Giants started the year 8-2 with series sweeps over the Marlins, Padres, and Guardians. They were tied with the Dodgers atop the NL West and looked like they could make another run at the division. However, they lost three of four against the Mets on the road. This series brought the Giants back to earth as they were thoroughly handled for most of the week.
The Giants will try to turn things around in a three-game series on the road against the Washington Nationals. Washington has been largely hit and miss this year. The lowlights have been bright though, losing three of four against the Pirates, and two of four against the Diamondbacks -- two of the worst teams in the MLB.

Giants vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
Alex Wood will be making his second start of the season for the Giants in what has been a strong 2022 thus far. Wood has 9 ⅓ total innings of two-run work under his belt. Wood has fanned 11 and walked three in those games. He has a 1-0 record to show for it. All in all, a very impressive start to the year from the veteran southpaw.
Wood will face off against Aaron Sanchez for the Nats. Sanchez will be seeing his first action of the season as he’s not pitched since Aug. 7 2021 as a member of the Giants. So this team is familiar with Sanchez. Sanchez has only pitched 35 ⅓ innings since 2019 and I think he’s going to have some work to get past that ring rust. Sanchez has the mental ability to be a top-tier starter, but he is too much of a question mark physically right now.
Giants ML -146
