The San Francisco Giants have a chance to play spoiler on Tuesday, as they take on the San Diego Padres, who hold just a one-game lead on the Philadelphia Phillies for the No. 2 spot in the NL wild card.
The Padres will either play the New York Mets or St. Louis Cardinals depending on where they land in the wild card, but a win on Tuesday would put them one step closer to a matchup with the Mets.
The Giants, who sit at 80-80 on the season, were supposed to start Carlos Rodon in this game, but it appears he has reached his innings max. The team has yet to announce who will be replacing him.
Scott Boras tells me Carlos Rodón is perfectly healthy as evidenced by his last start but has reached an innings limit of 180 - an increase of 50 - and it would be ideal for him to be protected like Logan Webb. If he goes on IL today - he’s not injured. Just reached innings max.

Sean Manaea (7-9, 5.15 ERA) gets the ball for the Padres as he looks to rebound from a brutal September (7.00 ERA).
Here are the odds for this NL West matchup:
Giants vs. Padres Odds, Run Line and Total
Giants vs. Padres Prediction and Pick
If there is one thing I’m not going to do, it’s bet an UNDER in a game Sean Manaea is pitching.
Manaea has been awful over his last 15 outings (13 starts), posting a 6.72 ERA and allowing 88 hits in just 67 innings pitched. The Padres are 5-10 in those games.
The Giants rank 12th in OPS against lefties this season, and now with the team’s starter up in the air, I think we could see a very offensive game on Tuesday.
The Padres have gone OVER or landed exactly one seven runs in eight of Manaea’s last 10 outings. Back the OVER again tonight.
Lean: OVER 7 (-120)
