The San Diego Padres are 1-4 with Juan Soto since acquiring him at the trade deadline. They presumably did so to compete with the Dodgers, but were just swept in three games in LA. The Padres now head back home to host the San Francisco Giants who were recently swept in a four-game series with the Dodgers.

The Padres are 15.5 games back of LA at 61-50 and the Giants are 53-55.

Alex Wood and Blake Snell are the starters tonight and you can find odds for this matchup of two-lefties in the NL West at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Giants vs. Padres Prediction and Pick

The San Francisco Giants have a .750 OPS against left-handed pitchers which gives them a distinct advantage in this one. The Padres have an OPS of just .691 vs. left-handed pitchers.

This played out on July 10 for Alex Wood who was excellent in a start against San Diego. He allowed just three hits, no runs over seven innings, but in his previous start against the Padres he allowed five earned runs. Blake Snell was equally as excellent in that series. In his start on July 8, Snell struck out 11 over six innings and gave up only one run.

Both teams are 5-5 in their last 10 games due in large part to the Dodgers who have tortured them all year. It is hard to say if the Padres will be reeling after a sweep, or if this is the perfect bounce back spot with Soto in the fold. What I do know is that both of these pitchers have had a lot of success against this opponent in 2022. That makes the under the best play for me today. Neither team is lighting things up offensively, the both are hitting about .240 over their last 10 games.

Pick: Under 7.5 (-110)
