The 49-37 San Diego Padres host the 42-41 San Francisco Giants this afternoon at 4:10 PM EST after winning two of the first three games of the series.

MacKenzie Gore makes his 13th start of the season after holding the Dodgers to one run over 5.2 innings last week. He's had two disastrous starts against the Rockies, though otherwise has a 1.39 ERA on the season.

San Francisco turns to Alex Wood, behind whom they've lost three straight. Wood has a 5.14 road ERA, but did hold the Diamondbacks to one run in his last outing.

Can the Giants walk away with a series split, or will Gore continue his stellar pitching against teams not from Colorado?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find the value in this Giants vs Padres matchup:

Giants vs Padres Prediction and Pick

I find this line a bit disrespectful to MacKenzie Gore. He's held every single opponent to three runs or fewer besides the Rockies, including limiting the Giants to one run over six innings back in May. The guy is a consistently dominant young starter, and I'm thrilled oddsmakers aren't giving him the respect he deserves yet.

Not including the Colorado games, San Diego has five straight wins behind Gore by a combined score of 23-5. He's got great composure and an ability to work himself out of jams, though he'll need to prevent walks to continue his success.

On the other end, Alex Wood has a 5.14 road ERA and owns a 6.75 ERA in day games. The Giants are 1-4 in his last five starts away from home and shouldn't muster much run support, ranking a pathetic 26th in OPS against left-handed pitchers over the last two weeks.

The Padres have the better lineup, starting pitcher, bullpen, and defense. They're quite literally better at every level of the game and should be bigger favorites. I'll roll with Gore to toss another quality start and give San Diego a series win.

Pick: Padres (-115)
