The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies are scheduled to close out their second three games series of the year on Wednesday at Coors Field.

The Giants swept Colorado in the first series, and has been somewhat of a jumping-off point of the Rockies' recent downhill spiral.

The Giants, meanwhile, have shaken off a bad start to the month and are back near the top of the NL West division. San Francisco also has an advantage on the mound with Logan Webb starting against Kyle Freeland.

Giants vs. Rockies Prediction and Pick

Logan Webb is doing a good job of giving the Giants what they need; a guy to eat innings and not get blown up on a regular basis. With a 3.48 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, I’d say Webb is doing a great job in that role. He has given up more than three runs in a game just once and averages around 6 ⅓ innings per start. The Giants are also 6-1 in games that he starts while Webb leads the league with a 5-1 overall record.

Freeland is having a decent season and is a guy who I want to trust. However, his last outing made me double think about the ceiling I have on him this year.

For the third time in 2022, Freeland gave up more than five runs in a blowout loss. None of those starts lasted more than 5 ⅓ innings with the previous two coming against the Cubs and Dodgers. What makes this most recent blowup so bad was that it came against the Kansas City Royals. Freeland coughed up eight runs on 12 hits and two walks over 4 ⅔ innings, and did not strike out a single batter. It was such a bad outing that I almost expected him to go on the IL afterward with a blister or something.

I don’t want to take a chance that Freeland tosses a gem against the Giants here. Something I do believe he is capable of. But it’s not the time to take a chance on the Rockies as a home underdog.

Pick: Giants -150 ML
