Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka UFC 275 Prediction and Odds (Will Teixeira Win Defend Light Heavyweight Title?)
By Reed Wallach
The UFC goes international with their June Pay-Per-View, heading to Kallang, Singapore for UFC 275.
After capturing UFC gold at the age of 42, Glover Teixeira makes his first title defense on Saturday, June 11th at UFC 275. He faces one of the fastest risers in the promotion in Jiri Prochazka, who enters 28-3-1 and off of two devastating knockouts in his first two fights.
Prochazka is getting a ton of respect from oddsmakers after his vicious KO of former Light Heavyweight title challenger Dominik Reyes, is it warranted?
Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka Odds, Total
Moneyline:
- Teixeira: +160
- Prochazka: -200
Total: 1.5 (Over -135/Under +115)
Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka Prediction and Pick
Teixeira has thrived in the role of an underdog in his recent run to the title. He has won his last 6 while never being priced higher than a -125 favorite. In his last three, he was an underdog of +160 or greater, so this isn't anything new for him.
However, Prochazka presents the biggest knockout threat he has faced, 25 of his 28 career wins have come via KO. Can Teixeira find a way to get this to the mat? The 'Brazilian Pitbull' is one of the savviest submission threats in the sport, with 10 of his 33 wins coming from submission, including his last two.
Teixeira can't handle the power of Prochazka at his elder age of 42, but if he can get this to the mat, he can gas out the Czech born challenger and eventually find a submission. While Prochazka has seemed a bit chaotic at times during his short stint with the UFC, he has shown to be violent and I believe if you are going to side with the favorite, look to play him via KO rather than laying the juicy moneyline.
Teixeira is being undervalued as an underdog once again as I can see either outcome bearing fruit, and I think there's volume playing Teixeira ITD (he can win via ground and pound later in the fight), but my early look is to Prochazka securing UFC gold with an early knockout.
LEAN: Prochazka KO, Under 1.5 (+115)
