Gonzaga vs. Pepperdine Prediction and Odds (Can Any Team Win ATS vs. the Zags?)

The late game on tonight’s NCAA schedule features the No. 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs taking on the not-even-close to being ranked Pepperdine Waves.

The Bulldogs are 30.5-point favorites tonight which has become the norm for them in conference play. The Bulldogs are a perfect 10-0 in the West Coast Conference and a very impressive 7-1-2 against the spread. What makes that impressive is they are routinely favorites in the 20s and 30s and it can be hard to find the desire to blow teams out night after night. Yet, they keep doing it, and while they do, I’m happy to continue betting on them in these big spots. 

As for Pepperdine, they are in 10th place in the WCC and enter this game with a 7-20 overall record. They are riding a two-game losing streak and are a terrible 2-9 ATS as a road team. They are also 0-1 ATS against ranked opponents.

Another week and another WCC game where Gonzaga is heavily favored. While I made a bad call that they would cover against St. Marys, they are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games after they pushed. The Bulldogs have won five of their last six games by at least 30 points and already beat Pepperdine this year by 34 points on a 30 point spread. 

I am not going to waste your time with a bunch of stats here for each team. Pepperdine is not even close to being as good as a team that Gonzaga. The Bulldogs rank among the best teams in the nation on offense and might be the most potent scorers in the league. They continue to defy the oddsmakers and don’t let off the gas until the final whistle.
