Grizzlies vs. Nets Summer League Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, July 12 (Back Cam Thomas and the Nets)

Both the Nets and Grizzlies sit at 1-1 in the Vegas summer league. Tonight they meet up at 6:30 on ESPN 2 and we get a look at some good young players on playoff contenders.
Typically Summer League is intriguing to see this year's top picks who will likely play for bad teams, but this matchup gives us a chance to find what players could be hidden gems come playoff time between Brooklyn (if they figure out their drama) and Memphis.
The Grizzlies showcase two 2022 first-rounders in Jake Laravia and David Roddy, and the centerpiece for Brooklyn is last year’s first round pick, Cam Thomas.

Grizzlies vs. Nets Prediction and Pick
My strategy for betting on the summer league is very clear and unwavering. I go after teams with second-year players who had real experience a year ago. These are the teams with players that have been professionals for over a year compared to first-round teenagers who are coming straight from college.
First I wanted to see if we could attack the total in this one, but I don’t know that I have any clear indication. Memphis has scored 70 and 76 in their two games in Vegas which may make you think the under is clearly in play. However, Brooklyn has put up 90 and 91 points in their two outings. I can’t feel confident going either way on the total, but I think there may be a clear pick against the spread.
If I am going after second-year players then Cam Thomas fits the bill perfectly. He had 26 in the Nets 91-84 win over the 76ers and is a legit NBA scorer. He is playing in summer league, not to work on his scoring package, but to develop as a distributor.

Some have interpreted this as Thomas being tired of Steve Nash, but I think he is more tired of hearing about his lack of passing. I’m not because that lack of passing means Cam Thomas continues to play in summer league and can make us some money.
