After two straight low-scoring games to begin their four game series, we finally saw some runs Wednesday night in Anaheim.

The Angels won their fourth straight game; taking down the Cleveland Guardians 9-5; with outfielder Taylor Ward leading the way with a 3 for 4 evening; scoring four runs and driving in four as well.

Later this afternoon, the Guardians look to get in the win column for the first time since April 20th; sending right-hander Cal Quantrill to the mound against Angels lefty Reid Detmers.

Here are the odds for the final game of their four-game series from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Guardians vs. Angels Odds, Run Line, Total

Spread:

  • Guardians: +1.5 (-145)
  • Angels: -1.5 (+120)

Moneyline:

  • Guardians: +150
  • Angels: -160

Total:

  • 8.5 (Over -125/Under +105)

Guardians vs. Angels Prediction and Pick

It's a picture-perfect day to play baseball in Anaheim today, with the sun shining and a crisp 68 degrees expected at first pitch. I'll give a slight bump to hitters with the wind blowing out to left-center at 9-10 mph.

Even with both offenses carrying some confidence into the matinee, I like the matchup for Cleveland quite a bit. Detmers has struggled so far this season; coming into the matchup 0-1 with a 6.57 ERA. However, that number should actually be substantially higher when you looked at some of the advanced metrics.

Detmers' fielder independent pitching (FIP) number is actually over 10 this season, indicating he's actually been on the luckier side despite his struggles this year. Meanwhile, Quantrill has been wildly effective in the early going; limiting damage in his three starts, but enters his fourth start with a 6:7 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Angels rank 8th in walk rate this season, and won't be afraid to spit on a few Quantrill pitches outside the zone.

Several books have already moved this number to nine for the total, so I'll back the value on 8.5 while it still lasts at WynnBET.

LEAN: OVER 8.5 (-125)
