Guardians vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Odds for Friday, August 12 (Berrios Reverts Back to Early Season Struggles)
By Josh Yourish
The Cleveland Guardians travel up to Canada to face the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of this three-game weekend series. The Guardians kickoff the weekend with Cal Quantrill on the mound after a get-away day yesterday. While Toronto is rested after a rain out on Wednesday and an off-day Thursday.
Jose Berrios gets the start for the Blue Jays. Both teams are in contention for a Wild Card spot, but Cleveland has recently passed Minnesota in the AL Central.

Guardians vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Pick
It looked like Jose Berrios was finally turning his season around. Toronto had won six of his starts in a row and he finally dragged his ERA under five, but last time out changed that momentum. At Minnesota, Berrios went 3.2 innings and gave up five earned runs while only striking out one.
Prior to that start it looked like his strikeout numbers were up and his fastball was back to being an effective pitch, but that may have been more flukey. This bad season seems destined to continue for Berrios.
The Blue Jays dropped two games to Baltimore before their short hiatus and they have lost five of their last seven games. On the other side, Cleveland seems to be surging, with four straight wins heading into its finale with Detroit.
Cleveland has also won Quantrill’s last six starts, but his ERA is still around four and his Fielding Independent Pitching is 4.58. Both pitchers have had a decent run as of late, but it may not be as real as it seems. I expect some regression to come for Quantrill and both pitchers to struggle on Friday night.
Lean: Over 9 (-110)
