Guardians vs. Tigers Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, July 5 (Can Guardians Get Back on Track?)
By Joe Summers
The 32-47 Detroit Tigers swept the 40-38 Cleveland Guardians in a double-header yesterday and hope for a fourth win in five games tonight at 7:10 PM EST.
Drew Hutchison makes his third start for Detroit after spending most of the year as a reliever, bringing an 0-4 record and 4.81 ERA into today's contest.
Cleveland looks to snap their slump with Cal Quantrill on the mound. Quantrill is coming off eight strong innings against the Twins in which he allowed only three runs. On the year, he's given up more than three runs just twice in 14 starts.
Can Quantrill and the Guardians avoid a sweep or will Hutchison earn his first victory of the year?

Guardians vs Tigers Prediction and Pick
The Guardians' lineup has struggled over the last week, averaging just 1.8 runs per game over their last five, but should get back on track today against Drew Hutchison. A converted reliever, Hutchison hasn't finished the fifth inning in either of his two starts and his 5.63 expected ERA is a poor mark.
Hutchison gave up five runs over 8.2 innings in those starts and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile leaves a lot to be desired:
That third percentile ranking in walk rate is particularly concerning, as the Guardians do an excellent job staying patient at the plate.
On the other end, Cal Quantrill has been a steading force for Cleveland all year. He's thrown a quality start in nine of his last 12 outings and the Guardians have won four of six behind him.
The Guardians are 10-4 in their last 14 as road favorites with seven of the wins coming by multiple runs. Look for a bounce-back performance from a struggling lineup to give Quantrill the run support he needs and the Guardians earn a critical road victory.
Pick: Guardians -1.5 (+110)
