The 2021-2022 NHL season is only a few months away. The league will be returning to its usual conferences, divisions and schedule, which will be a welcome sight for the majority of hockey fans and bettors.

The one new change that we will see this season is the inclusion of the NHL’s 32nd franchise, the Seattle Kraken. They’ll be making their debut in the league just four years after the Vegas Golden Knights became the 31st franchise.

WynnBET has released odds to win the Hart Trophy this season. For those who aren’t familiar, the Hart Trophy is equivalent to the MVP trophy award in most other professional sports leagues. It’s officially described as “The award is given annually to the NHL player voted to be most valuable to his team by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.”

Here are the top 10 players on the odds list at WynnBET to win the award:

  • Connor McDavid +400
  • Nathan Mackinnon +500
  • Auston Matthews +700
  • Nikita Kucherov +800
  • Leon Draisaitl +1200
  • Artemi Panarin +1200
  • David Pastrnak +1200
  • Sebastian Aho +1500
  • Mikko Rantan +1500
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy +1500

Connor McDavid Vying for Third Hart Trophy

Connor McDavid is widely considered to be the best hockey player in the world right now, and his trophy case would support that claim. He’s only six years into his NHL career, but he already has won the Hart Trophy twice, including last season. He also has won the Art Ross Trophy for recording the most regular season points three times, and he’s been named to the NHL First All-Star team four times.

He’s now the betting favorite at WynnBET at +400 to win the trophy for the third time in seven seasons, and he’d be the first player to win it in back-to-back years since Alexander Ovechkin did it in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

Can a Goalie Win the Hart Trophy?

A goalie hasn’t won the Hart Trophy since Jose Theodore of the Montreal Canadiens achieved the feat in the 2001-02 season. If anyone can break that streak, it would be the Tampa Bay Lightning's netminder, Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Coming in at +1500 on the odds list, Vasilevskiy is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and the latest winner of the Conn Smythe trophy, which is award to the MVP of the NHL playoffs.

Vasilevskiy also has a Vezina Trophy to his name, and is the betting favorite to win his second next season.

Marc Andre Fleury, who was recently traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, is also on the odds list to win the Hart Trophy at +3000.
