Hawks vs. Heat Prediction and Odds for Game 2 (Another Under Game Between Atlanta and Miami)
By Reed Wallach
The Hawks have had a chaotic week that included 2 win-or-go-home Play-In games and a trip to Miami for Game 1 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
Atlanta hardly competed in Game 1. The Heat's physical defense overwhelmed Trae Young and the Hawks, resulting in a Miami 115-91 victory.
Can the Hawks respond with just one day off ahead of Game 2 on Tuesday? We'll break that all down, but let's first see the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Hawks vs. Heat Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Hawks: +7.5 (-110)
- Heat: -7.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Hawks: +255
- Heat: -310
Total: 217.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Hawks vs. Heat Prediction and Pick
Game 1 went under the total because of Atlanta's inability to get any sort of offense going. Trae Young was completely shut down by the Heat's defense and nobody could pick up the slack.
The Hawks as a team shot 38% from the field and 27% from beyond the arc on 36 attempts. The stark difference in the game came by way of the Heat's 35 assists to the Hawks' 16.
As we turn to Game 2, I'm eyeing the under yet again. This total dropped 3 points from the Game 1 total but I believe we are in for a bruising series for the duration. Yes, Young will likely play better against Miami's defense, but the Heat also likely won't shoot 47% from 3 once again.
The game featured 97 possessions, which would have been 25th in the league across the regular season, but also had 45 free throws. Miami posted the best effective field goal percentage of the entire postseason through Game 1, north of 63%, while the Hawks checked in at 45%. I think we find ourselves in the middle in a much more competitive Game 2. However, the possessions should stay low and we are trending towards another under game.
LEAN: UNDER 217.5
