The Atlanta Hawks are in the midst of a losing streak after losing five of their last seven games. Tonight they lucked out and will head south to take on the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center. This is good news for the Hawks because while they are one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA, the Magic are objectively one of the worst. The Magic have lost five in a row and will hope a home game against the struggling Hawks can turn things around.

The Magic have yet to win back-to-back games all season and have won just once in their last 13 games. The Magic have played seven of their last eight on the road, but I don’t believe a trip home will suddenly spark some life into this team. Orlando has been underdogs in every single game this year and is 12-16 ATS but has won just three of 20 games at home.

Hawks vs. Magic Prediction and Pick

The Hawks and Magic are currently bringing up the rear of the Southeast division, but have miles separating them in terms of standings. While the Hawks are fourth in the division, they are just 2.5 games behind the Heat for the top spot. The Magic, however, are fifth but trail the Heat by a whopping 11 games this early in the season.

Atlanta has enough weapons to pull out a win here but I do worry about their chance to cover the 8.5 point spread. The Hawks have been favored in their last five losses with their most recent disappointment a 132-126 loss to the Rockets when they were 10-point favorites. As much as I don’t trust the Magic, at least they are consistent. I'll take the home team and the points here.

Pick: Orlando Magic +8.5 (-110)
